My Brother the Devil
Two brothers from Hackney, London have to confront their inner demons during a bloody summer that will change their lives forever. Fourteen-year-old Mo looks up to his big brother Rashid, a well respected gangster. Mo’s first drug delivery goes wrong and leads to a dramatic string of events which threaten to ruin the lives of the two brothers. Rashid turns out to be different to what Mo believed, and Mo developes an intense hate towards his brother. My Brother the Devil is both clever and engaging in its take on common challenges in immigrant families. El Hosaini’s film is nuanced and complex, but not without warmth and hope. man
