How much are you willing to sacrifice for a chance that could potentially change everything? 18-year-olds Zehra and Olgun work at a roadside diner in the middle of an industrial no man's land in the Turkish countryside. Their days are filled with double shifts, and little else. Both have a dream of getting away, to practically any other place. Zehra’s hope to get ahead manifests itself in the form of an older truck driver she meets at a wedding. They begin a secret affair, far from the judgemental gaze of her conservative family. Challenges with close family, coupled with a precise social picture has been Yesim Ustaoglu’s trademark earlier, and here she shows how small town traditions collide with an ever-increasing demand for modernity. akek
