A rich and complex story of love and self-discovery that subtly explores nuances of strength and vulnerability behind the facades of its tough masculine characters.

This pulsating, rough, but sensitive drama engulfs the viewer right from the first scene, a breakneck motorcycle ride through windswept sand dunes. Two motorcyclists dismount on Praia do Futuro ("future beach") to go for a casual swim, which turns into a nightmare when a violent undercurrent pulls them under. One of them is lost to the ocean, while the other, Konrad, escapes with his life thanks to the intervention of Donato, the local lifeguard. The two men form a close emotional bond over the course of Konrad's stay. When the latter returns to Germany, Donato spontaneously decides to join him there, not knowing what the future has in store for him and his younger brother, who adulates him. cf
