The Rocket
In a Laotian tribe, tradition says that twins are born is pairs of good and evil. When Ahlo is born with a stillborn twin, his mother must protect him from the custom that would have him killed. He grows up being a secret twin. When a giant hydroelectric plant is being built, the village is forced to relocate. As Ahlo and his family travel to their new home, tragedy seems to follow in their footsteps, and his grandmother puts the blame on him.In their new slum village, Ahlo meets the outcasts Kia and her uncle, who teach him survival skills in the rough, new environment. And when the annual rocket-making competition is announced, Ahlo sees the opportunity to prove, once and for all, that he is not cursed. Against a backdrop of old warfare and conflicts, in a world where old traditions meet modern development and related problems, The Rocket is a film about human resilience and children's unbreakable optimism. htb
