A minibus drives through a tunnel and enters a completely empty Hong Kong. What's happened and where everyone's gone is a mystery. The Midnight After takes us into a bizarre world where the characters know as little as the audience. With elements from several genres and references to Western pop culture, this is a dark satire of the situation in Hong Kong today. Where the story goes is a mystery throughout, and Fruit Chan keeps the audience on the tip of their seat. Only with a musical act involving David Bowie's Space Oddity do we get a few minutes to relax. Whether you see it as a strong satire or purely as entertainment, Chan has made this year's most bizarre experience. eg

Suitable for audiences above 15 years of age.
