The Severed Heads

This is Jodorowsky’s first attempt as director. Here he intended to use the pantomime-troupe he was part of and capture their adaptation of Thomas Mann’s Die vertauschten Köpfe. The Severed Heads is much simpler and humoristic than his later movies, but his surrealistic flavour is still clearly visible. Long thought to be lost, it resurfaced in 2006 in co-producer Saul Gilbert’s attic. krj
