Pure evil exists! It actually resides in a small house in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Rebuilt to include a room that triples as operating theatre, slaughterhouse and torture chamber, the house is inhabitated by a necrophile cannibal and his overweight son who also has taken a liking in human flesh. The boy befriends the children of a prostitute who once met her destiny in the very same house. The amoral violence is now being passed on to the next generation, and a circle of violence, in the form of a family saga, starts to play out.

This feature film debut from Vietnamese director Lê Bình Giang is an extreme form of arthouse body horror unlike anything you have (hopefully) ever seen. For very good reasons, this bizarre and extreme cannibal flick screened in late night slots ony at the Rotterdam and CPH:PIX film festivals – THIS IS NOT A FILM FOR EVERYONE!

In a manic narrative style that is both unpredictable and uncompromising, and featuring explicit depictions of necrophilia and cannibalism, the film explores what happens when evil begets evil. Director Lê Bình Giang has stated that the film is meant to show the consequences of refusing to acknowledge that evil is a necessary counterpart to good: «It is a display of our evil being mistreated, which consequently results with us being unable to find the peace our hearts desire. This film is my voice and defense of the nature of evil. Because one day, it could be the evil that ends up sheltering me.» Truls Foss

Vietnamese director Lê Bình Giang (b. 1990) studied film at the university in Ho Chi Minh City, but was refused to submit KFC as his graduation film, as the university council found the script to be too violent. Lê did not abandon the project, and after making a number of short films and working three years to raise the funding, he eventually realised his controversial first feature.
