A place, a landscape, or an institution can tell us important things both about history and about contemporary phenomena. This is a premise in Central Airport THF, a thought-provoking documentary with perspectives on the refugee crisis, not unlike Gianfranco Rosi's award-winning documentary Fire at Sea (Films from the South 2016).

The place in question is the Tempelhof airport in Berlin, once the price of Nazi Germany's air force. Now it has been turned into a leisure area, but it also serves as reception centre for refugees. The film weaves together voices, sounds, landscapes, and historical insights in its exploration of Tempelhof as a focal point of human travels. It also follows 18 year-old Ibrahim from Syria and other refugees over a year of homesickness and trying to adapt to a new life. CFO

Central Airport THF portrays people and places with great precision and humanity.
