A scandal of human trafficking involving a fake birth clinic, with connections to the very highest levels of society, is chronicled in the highly impressive debut feature film Song Without a Name. Shot in suggestive black and white, and set in Peru in the 1980s, it follows Georgina, a young and pregnant Quechua woman who receives an offer from the infamous clinic. It also traces the work of Ismael León – director Melina León's father in real life – the first journalist to report on the scandal.

Melina León is a director, writer and producer from Peru. She lives in Lima and New York, and studied film at the Columbia University. León made her first short film back in 2000. Song Without a Name is her first feature film and had its premiere in the prestigious Cannes sidebar Directors Fortnight in 2019.
