The Fever
Justino is a middle aged security guard, working at the harbour in Manaus in Brazil. After living in a stable life for many years together with his grown up daughter Vanessa, two major changes creates a deep disruption in his life that brings strong and uneasy feelings to the surface. His daughter decides to say yes to a scholarship grant, that makes it necessary for her to move into the main city. At work a new security guard replaces the old and familiar one, and the new white guy seems to be rooted in a hostile attitude towards the indigenous population that Justino himself is coming from. This new situation creates a powerful fever, that give him a feeling of deep unrest and visions of a haunted beast that physically directs Justino into a new way of life. The Fever is a thoughtful and visually stunning film, that with subtle tools displays how a way of life can change by circumstanses you can not control yourself.
