Kobra Self Portrait
As a street artist, Eduardo Kobra has created some of the largest murals in the world and created countless portraits. But in this documentary by director Lina Chamie, it is his turn to be portrayed.
Eduardo Kobra is an artist of international acclaim, known for his enormous, kaleidoscopic portraits, and has been the man behind the world’s then largest murals twice. This calibre of career does not spring up overnight. In Lina Chamie’s new film, Kobra, who never did enjoy making self-portraits, tells his story – from his days of hobbyist tagging to his career, of his health and activism, and about his art, which lies at the heart of it all.
Kobra Self-Portrait was awarded the 2022 Cinema Brazil Grand Prize for Best Documentary by the Brazilian Academy of Film.
