A Tender and loving documentary portrait of journalist Augusto Góngora, who after a career dedicated to making sure Chile does not forget its past is forgetting his own, and his unwavering love, Paulina Urrutia.

Married couple Augusto Góngora and Paulina Urrutia have led exciting lives. He was a journalist and activist for democracy during and after Chile’s era as a dictatorship, she is an actress, academic and former minister of culture. When Augusto was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2014, the two of them decided to be transparent about his condition, and Paulina began documenting her husband and their life together on video. This film is their story.

The Eternal Memory is an exceptionally intimate and touching documentary, created using archive footage, new material, and the videos Paulina herself filmed. It is an unfiltered and haunting watch, but also a celebration of a life well spent, filled with courage and love.

«The Eternal Memory is one of the most romantic documentaries ever put to screen. It’s also one of the most tragic. (…) It’s the rare example of a film or an experience that can uplift one’s heart while breaking it at the same time; a powerful catharsis that comes wrapped in hardship.»
