5 Centimeters per Second
Through three visually striking vignettes, anime director Makoto Shinkai – best known for Your Name – explores the joys and pains of falling in love.
Takaki is deeply in love with his childhood friend Akari, but she moves away with her family before their relationship can develop into something more. They stay in touch, but over the years, they drift apart, and Takaki has to navigate the emotions tied to all the things he never got to say to Akari. The story is told through three loosely connected, visually striking acts spanning 17 years.
