All We Imagine As Light

Last year’s opening film at Films from the South beautifully captures the vast contrasts of Mumbai in a gorgeously shot, poetic tale about the lives of two women in the massive city.

The film is screened for free at Deichman Bjørvika on Wednesday SEPT 10, 2025 at 18.00.  

The stoic Prabha and the younger, more scatterbrained Anu are roommates and nurses. Both long for love and closeness. The man Prabha was married off to as a young woman moved to Germany shortly after the wedding, and she has heard very little from him since. Anu, on the other hand, is in love with a Muslim boy and is not thrilled with her parents’ intention to marry her off to someone else.

The film has an almost hypnotic quality, with its understated expression drawing you fully into Mumbai’s nightlife and the heartfelt conversations between lovers, friends, and colleagues.
