Cu Li Never Cries
A woman has picked up her husband's ashes in Germany and is traveling home to Vietnam. In her luggage, she carries a pygmy slow loris – a small primate from the Vietnamese rainforest – she has inherited from her husband.
Back in Vietnam, the woman's niece is planning her own wedding. The young couple is nervous about their uncertain future. The contemporary world the characters live in and echoes from Vietnamese history are intertwined in a poetic and meditative way. A strange tale about identity and grief, which slowly reveals layers of complexity as the film unfolds.
