Hotspring Sharkattack

A series of bizarre, bathroom-related deaths are traced back to a prehistoric shark species moving through the plumbing system of the resort town of Atsumi.

Public and private baths, spas, and even small puddles have suddenly turned into deadly traps. Amid the chaos, we meet a cynical police chief, a mayor with celebrity ambitions, and a marine biologist. Together, they try to solve the town’s shark problem.

This is Japan’s first shark film – a delightful mix of genre clichés, intentionally bad CGI, and puppetry. It is part parody of the shark-movie genre, part trashy and chaotic horror, but told with irresistible charm. The film won the Audience Award at the Tokyo International Shark Film Festival.

Japanese Film Weekend

The film will be screened during the Japanese Film Weekend at Cinemateket in Oslo from NOV 7 to 9! The weekend will be packed with Japanese films, a celebration of diplomatic cooperation between Norway and Japan, and a Japanese activity day on Saturday.
