Noise
Two sisters move into a new apartment hoping for a fresh start. When one of them suddenly disappears, the other must find out what happened.
Joo-young is hearing impaired and receives help from her sister’s boyfriend in the search. This leads to several frightening discoveries. Perhaps most unsettling are the noises that grow louder and louder with each passing night. When Joo-young’s new hearing aid also begins picking up strange sounds, she starts to suspect that something supernatural is at play.
In South Korea, so-called floor noise — the sound of footsteps, furniture being dragged across the floor — is a national obsession and often a source of conflict. In NOISE, director Kim Soo-jin takes this phenomenon and transforms it into a nerve-racking psychological horror film.
