The young poet Dong-hwa’s meeting with his girlfriend Jun-hee’s parents starts politely – before it turns into an exploration of privilege and ideals.

Beneath all the politeness simmers a tension rooted in Dong-hwa’s stubbornness and his desire to live a «pure» artistic life – despite his wealthy background. As the day unfolds, each family member becomes a counterpoint to his ideals. What Does That Nature Say To You is one of Hong Sang-soo’s most quietly provocative films. Shot in low resolution and out of focus – mirroring the protagonist, who says he likes to see the world «a little out of focus». The result is a subtle and insightful meditation on creativity, privilege, and peoples' capacity to grow and change.
