Kabul, at the end of the 1980s. The children in a Soviet-run orphanage dreams themselves away through the Bollywood films they love.

15-year-old Qodrat lives on the street, selling cinema tickets for Bollywood films on the black market. When he is caught, he is sent straight to the orphanage. When the political situation changes and the Soviets withdraw from Afghanistan, a rebel group stands ready to storm the orphanage. Qodrat sets his imagination in motion and uses all his Bollywood knowledge to defend his new home.
