The Samurai and the Prisoner

An elegant and razor-sharp chamber piece set in feudal Japan, by Kiyoshi Kurosawa.

Lord Araki Murashige resolves to stand up to the tyrant Oda Nobunaga, only to find himself shut inside his own castle as the enemy army closes in. A series of mysterious incidents breeds an atmosphere of paranoia at court — a traitor is in their midst. To unravel the mystery, he must forge an alliance with Kuroda Kanbei, a brilliant but dangerous strategist held in the castle's dungeon. With the help of his wife, Chiyoho, and his most loyal generals, he must uncover the truth before the castle falls.
