Eloïse King
Eloïse King’s multidisciplinary practice, rooted in her identity as a queer woman of Caribbean working-class heritage, uses film, photography, and writing to interrogate cultural and institutional shifts – exposing the fractures and fictions within notions of societal ‘progress’ in order to disrupt dominant histories and reimagine collective memory.
Her credits as a director and producer include The Gatherings, Kids Behind Bars, Gurls Talk, and Amy Winehouse & Me: Dionne’s Story. As Global Executive Producer at VICE, King led a multi-award-winning documentary team operating across four continents and founded Women on Docs (2016–2021), curating programs that championed women and non-binary filmmakers.
Her industry recognition includes the TV & Film Charity John Brabourne Award, Firelight Media Fellowship, Logan Nonfiction Fellowship, and Queer Realities. Her debut feature documentary, The Shadow Scholars — executive produced by Steve McQueen — has screened at more than 20 international festivals.
