In 2019 Park Chan-wook attended the festival and was awarded Films from the South’s honorary award - The Silver Mirror Honorary Award. For the occasion several of his previous films were screened during the festival. Among these were earlier works such as Trio (1997) and JSA: Joint Security Area (2000), more known productions such as the revenge-trilogy which includes Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002), the masterpiece Oldboy (2003) and Lady Vengance (2005), and the extended cut of The Handmaiden (2016).

Few directors show as much flair and understanding of genre film as Park Chan-Wook, something the retrospective clearly showcases. DECISION TO LEAVE is based on the classic film noir genre and is clearly inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s thrillers.
