Concert: Alune Wade at Cosmopolite
Saturday 14. NOV there will be a concert with Alune Wade at Cosmopolite Scene.
From Paris to Dakar and New York, Alune Wade has left his distinct mark on the meeting point between African music and jazz. Along the way he has shared the stage with stars such as Marcus Miller, Bobby McFerrin, Salif Keita and Oumou Sangaré, and live he is described as a musical force of nature with the ability to set the whole room ablaze.
Wade refuses to be put in any single musical box. Senegalese music? Jazz? Classical? Reggae? Taxuraan? Why choose? Wade himself speaks of "musique équitable" — fair-trade music. Music that gives him the freedom to follow his curiosity wherever it leads. In other words: no borders. No musical passport control.
The day before the concert — Friday 13 NOV — the film Tukki, From the Roots to the Bayou screens at Vega Scene. The film is directed by Wade, and he will be present in person for a conversation and a taste of the concert at Cosmopolite.
