In a country marked by several years of violent conflict between guerrillas, paramilitaries and the government, the whole thing financed by extensive drug trafficking, there are also people concerned with music.
In Beatbox Colombia we meet young people in several of the country’s cities, who all have in common that they live for the hip hop culture. But as in most countries, hip hop can be many things, both image and a way to express one’s opinion: while Ghetto’s Clan live in the ghetto of the city of Cali and rap about racism, social issues, violence and war, there are others that limit themselves to bragging about how clever and tough they are.
This film portrays the close relationship that exist between music, politics and society. rfa
