Kaminey: The Scoundrels
Can Bollywood offer more than grand dance scenes? This controversial film, that garnered rave reviews, shows a darker side of Indian society. Kaminey means scoundrel. Organized crime, corruption and Maharastran nationalism seep through in this story of two twin brothers from a shack by the railroad tracks in Mumbai. One speaks with a lisp, the other has a stutter. One fixes bets on the race tracks, the other tries to live his life on the straight and narrow. They detest each other, but in a world of scoundrels their destinies are mangled. Everything with a nice dash of song, dance and romance. Of course. Kari Petronella Finstad
