The House is Black
The House is Black is an acclaimed Iranian short film which looks deep into the life and suffering in a leper colony. Farrokhzad's narration of quotes from the Koran and her own poetry are present througout the film, and focus on the human condition and the beauty of creation. During the shooting she became attached to a child whom she later adopted. Farrokhzad died in a car accident in 1967, and is one of Iran's most influential and controversial poets. The documentary is a landmark in Iranian film, and paved the way for the countrys New Wave with its poetic and political thematics. red
