Porco Rosso
One of Miyazaki’s most underrated, but funny classics, is about the charismatic pilot Marco, who got turned into a pig under World War I. Quirky and humorous with superb animation. Fasten your seatbelt and get ready for an adventurous journey!
The end of the 1920s is approaching, and the Adriatic Sea is teeming with air pirates. Pirates who don't think twice about plundering a boatload of tourists for their valuables. The best of them all is the star pilot who has lost faith in humanity and cursed himself. A curse that gave him a pig's snout, an identity, and a name: Porco Rosso – the red pig.
In his bright red seaplane, he soars off to wherever desire, the winds, and destiny take him, in an eternal pursuit of adventure and lucrative villains.
Porco Rosso is Hayao Miyazaki's fourth feature film for Studio Ghibli. Originally intended to be a 45-minute promotional film for Japan Airlines, the animation master's love for airplanes expanded the story into an adventurous feature film!
