The Wind Rises
THE WIND RISES tells the story of Jiro who dreams of flying, but is extremely short sighted. In this yet another visually gorgeous, vigorous and subtle animation classic, master filmmaker Miyazaki tells a tale of self sacrifice and the path of a creator.
Jiros talent for aerodynamics is soon discovered, and in 1927 he gets a job at one of Japan's leading aircraft manufacturers. Jiro meets the beautiful Nahoko under extreme conditions, on a train during the great Kanto earthquake of 1923. Both of them survive, but are separated during the hard years of depression and epidemics that follow in the aftermath of the earthquake. Fate brings them together again, but their passion is put to the test. This is a touching and warm love story told by a master director.
