My Father from Haifa
From Haifa to Nørrebro – and back again. In 1948, eight year-old Munir Shargawi leaves Palestine with his family. He joins the Palestinian army, travels around the world before settling in Denmark. Filmmaker Omar is Munir’s oldest son. He has for years questioned his background and heritage and decides to make a documentary about his father and the past. Munir gradually opens up and travels with his son to the cities he once left. The relationship between father and son is complex and they both struggle to define their identity. With Shargawi’s award-winning documentary the audience is brought along on a fascinating personal and historical journey. red
