Walking Distance tells the story of the heavily overweight Federico Sanchez. «Fede» crafts simple jewelry, and lives his daily life completely cut-off from society. The only contact he has with the outside world are the weekly visits from his dominant sister, Rosaura, and her husband, Ramon. After being shown pictures of the couple's last holiday, Fede decides to leave the apartment for the first time in years, and visits the local photo shop to develop some old photo negatives. There he meets the young manga artist and punk rock enthusiast, Paulo, and an unlikely friendship arises.

Walking Distance deals with intricate subjects like friendship, loneliness and passion in a sublime, poignant and different way, portrayed by means of impressive cinematography and sure-handed directing.

Alejandro Guzmán Alvarez (b. 1973) had his directing debut with the short film “She Sleeps” in 1998. Since then, Alvarez has been involved in a number of Mexican productions, including the highly acclaimed “El Violín” from 2005. “Walking Distance” is the first feature film he has directed.
