The Cordillera of Dreams is the last installment in master documentarian Patricio Guzmán's trilogy about the history of Chile, his home country, explored through jaw-droppingly beautiful images of its nature. This last film is a poetic and essayistic tribute to the Andes mountains – Chile's geographical and metaphorical backbone. Guzmán's intriguing voice over guides us through meetings with sculptors, painters, writers, historians, politicians, activists, and ordinary citizens, all of whom draw inspiration, testimony and means of sustenance from the giant mountain walls that has become a witness to Chile's troubled history. This singular film won the award for Best Documentary Feature at this year's Cannes film festival.
