Ghost Mansion
Firmly rooted in Asian horror tradition, The Night Shift is an anthology film featuring five stories, all set within the same mysterious and possibly haunted apartment building with a secret past.
A cartoonist goes to visit the building in search of inspiration for his work. He meets the resident janitor, who has plenty of scary stories to tell about past residents and their fates. The more stories the cartoonist hears, the more fascinated he becomes with the mythical building.
This is archetypical Asian horror. We’re talking spooky children, damp hair, and ghosts. A beautifully icky film with efficient scares and varied horror components in the different storylines.
The Night Shift is the perfect film if you want to be scared just a bit. It’s always safe enough that the horror doesn’t completely take over, but still unpleasant enough to make your heart beat a little faster. On a dark November evening, this is a perfect pick for some cold chills down your spine without ruining the journey home afterwards.
