Who Do I Belong To
A gripping story about a Tunisian mother torn between her love for her sons and her desire to find the truth when one of her sons returns home after fighting for the Islamic State.
The two sons, Mehdi and Amine, left their homeland, and only Mehdi returned several years later. He now brings with him a pregnant woman who is covered and silent. The homecoming creates unrest in the small town, especially when residents also begin to disappear mysteriously. Over three chapters, Who Do I Belong To combines family drama with supernatural elements, telling a powerful story about motherhood, societal norms, and the modern versus the traditional.
The film had its world premiere in the Main Competition at the Berlinale in 2024.
