Boong

In hopes of reuniting his family, ten-year-old Boong sets out on a journey from India to Myanmar to find his father, who has been missing for many years.

Shooting slingshots is 10-year-old Boong’s specialty, a mischievous hobby that often gets him into trouble. But lively Boong is above all kind-hearted. He dreams of giving his mother the greatest gift of all – finding the father who has been gone for a long time. Together with his best friend, he sneaks across the border between India and Myanmar to search in a foreign land, though their adventure soon leads to quarrels between them.

This is a warm and humorous film, even as it unfolds in a region marked by conflict, stark divides between rich and poor, and everyday racism. But there – just as here – friendship proves to be the best and most important thing of all.
