With her mother’s body in a barrel of salt, eight-year-old Santa sets out on a journey, convinced she can find the road to Heaven and bring her mother back to life.
Her journey takes her across the vast Bolivian desert. Guided by a fish she has swallowed whole, she wanders through breathtaking landscapes, encountering a weary priest, a troupe of female wrestlers, and a disillusioned policeman. Cielo is a visionary work that blends mysticism and magical realism, evoking the timeless quality of a modern folktale.
