Heart of Darkness

In this reimagining of Joseph Conrad's classic novel, we find ourselves in a near future where all main roads to Rio de Janeiro has been destroyed.

The city is completely isolated from the rest of Brazil, and the only way to get there is by boat. Here we meet Lieutenant Marlon, who embarks on a dangerous journey up Guanabara Bay. His goal is to find the missing police officer Kurtz. The journey takes him through swamps, canals, and favelas. Far from Rio, Marlon finally finds the man he’s looking for. Kurtz has become the leader of a messianic paramilitary militia that believes the god Exu will rise from the dead to break the cycle of violence caused by Rio’s drug traffickers.
