Hola Frida! is a colorful animated film that takes us on a journey through the childhood of the legendary artist Frida Kahlo. The film follows young Frida, who brightens up her small Mexican village with positivity and playfulness. When she is diagnosed with polio, she is forced to retreat to her room. But there she finds comfort in her own imagination – a world filled with colors, flowers, and possibilities. This becomes an inner drive that helps her overcome life’s challenges.

The film portrays Frida’s childhood in the same colorful and playful style as her art, offering insight into how her early years shaped her, both as a person and as an artist. It explores themes of freedom, feminism, and life in early 20th-century Mexico, through the eyes of a young, vibrant, and inspiring girl.

Memory Homes: Workshop for Children

In connection with the screening of HEI FRIDA! at Cinemateket on 16 NOV., there will be a workshop for children inspired by the colors, images, and paintings of Frida Kahlo.

The workshop starts at 14 and ends at 16.
