Manas
Thirteen-year-old Tielle’s quiet life on the Marajó Peninsula in the Amazon unravels when the horrific secrets of the past, of violence and trauma, begin to surface.
As secrets from the past begin to surface, Tielle realizes how deeply violence and trauma have marked the women in her family – and decides to break the cycle. Director Marianna Brennand is best known as a documentary filmmaker. In this feature debut, she has – after years of research – crafted a powerful drama set in one of Brazil’s most isolated regions. Newcomer Jamilli Correa delivers a remarkable performance in the role of Tielle.
