Silent City Driver

With a storytelling style and dry humor reminiscent of Aki Kaurismäki, we follow Myagmar on a journey through Ulaanbaatar.

Recently released after serving 14 years in prison for murder, he is forced to settle for a job as a hearse driver. Myagmar is an enigmatic figure, with a face that reveals little. He speaks sparingly and moves through the city like a ghost – until he meets two people through his work. These encounters will change his life.

One is a young Buddhist monk he strikes up a conversation with on the way to a burial; the other is Saruul, the beautiful daughter of a blind coffin maker. He falls deeply in love, but when Saruul becomes the target of blackmail involving sensitive photos of her that have leaked, the anger and injustice Myagmar endured during his 14 years in prison resurface. Not even the monk can hold him back.
