Winter in Sokcho

A young Korean woman’s life takes an unexpected turn when a French artist arrives in her country.

Soo-Ha lives in the small coastal town of Sokcho, near the border with North Korea. She works at a hotel and helps her mother at the fish market, and the winter days pass quietly. Everything changes when French graphic novelist Yan Kerrand arrives in town, hoping to find inspiration. Koya Kamura’s directorial debut is based on Elisa Shua Dusapin’s critically acclaimed novel and is a beautiful film about identity and loneliness.
