Master

A teacher in a small Bangladeshi town goes from being a community hero to a feared authoritarian leader.

Jahir is the perfect teacher, husband and father. He is elected to political office and takes on the role with good intentions. But expectations of him create pressure; the role quickly becomes overwhelming, and his moral compass starts to waver. When a proposal to turn a slum area into a luxury resort comes up, he is further influenced by bureaucrats and lobbyists pursuing their own interests. His once-altruistic vision quickly devolves into a pure power struggle, and the community leader becomes a feared authoritarian.
