As seasons pass, we follow a young boy training with a monk in a floating temple in the middle of a lake.

Through five tableaus, the film depicts the cycle of the year. We meet a young boy and a monk during the first spring. From the monk, the boy learns fundamental ethical and philosophical doctrines, and the relationship between them becomes the core of the film. When a young woman moves into the boathouse with them for health reasons, new ethical issues – and romance – arise. The boy is about to become a man.

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… and Spring is a remarkable film that made a deep impression on audiences when it was first screened at Films from the South and later released in cinemas.
