India is a large and diverse country, containing enormous contrasts between rich and poor, men and women. In our half-hour session, we focus on the status of women in the country, marriage practices, and family relations, also covering political participation, increased Hindu nationalism, and class differences. Through the strong contrasting tendencies we will explore, we see an India in transformation.
Introduction: Anne Waldrop, Professor of Development Studies at OsloMet
