A few years ago, a director travelled around Angola to find material for a film about railways. Instead he met a musician. This musician, Wilker Flores, took the director Jeremy Xido with him to an orphanage where he was introduced to the music this film is all about: death metal. This is the music Flores and several of the inhabitants in Huambo use to purify the soul from war traumas. When they play death metal there is rebellion in their screams, and truth in their words. They play this music because of its freedom and solidarity, and so the memories of rumbling of bombs are transformed to the booming of drums. baa

Jeremy Xido is from Detroit, USA. He is not only a director, but also an artist, actor and cinematographer. Xido is known for his distinctive approach to the topics he covers, and for his touching and personal stories that have larger social contexts. In Death Metal Angola (2012), his second documentary, he is both cinematographer and director.
