Concerning Violence is a gripping and brave narrative about the African struggle for liberation from colonial powers. Archive material from the 60s and 70s are combined with excerpts from Franz Fanon read by artist Lauryn Hill, and gives an astonishing insight into the challenges these countries faced during the colonial era. It gives a thought-provoking view of a dark chapter in European history. Fanon's theory that violence of colonialism must be fought with greater violence is presented, as well as his vision and plea to reject the lust for colonial power and instead embrace a more creative and humane society. As a result, Olsson's documentary makes an accurate, timely, and vital contribution towards building a better world. sh

Suitable for audiences above 15 years of age.
