My Neighbor Totoro
Miyazaki's great classic, fitted for all ages, offers a wondrous adventure with forest spirits and magnificent animation about two sisters who move to the countryside because of their sickly mother.
On a beautiful spring day, a heavily loaded car drives through a peaceful and colorful Japanese landscape. In the car sits ten year old Satsuki, her little sister Mei and their father. They are on their way to a new life in an old country house. For the two sisters, this is the start of an exciting adventure, and as soon as they arrive they're trekking out to explore the house and the surrounding woods.
One day they meet the forest spirit Totoro, and their friendship with Totoro and the other spirits prove to be a great help for the two girls when the going gets tough. This is a true classic from Japanese Studio Ghibli, directed by Hayao Miyazaki, and regarded by many as a highlight in the master's career. The film portrays a lovely childhood story in an exquisite animated landscape, where the magic is barely visible in everyday life, only to reveal itself in all its glory for adventurous kids' minds.
