Sujo
The 4-year-old son of a Sicario is left to fend for himself when his father is murdered, but he chooses a different future rather than following in his father’s footsteps. An award winner at this year’s Sundance Festival.
The aunt takes over responsibility for 4-year-old Sujo, making it her life's mission to break the vicious cycle that could easily lead him to follow in his father's footsteps. However, challenges arise fully when he reaches his teenage years. Although a trip to Mexico City gives him some respite, the cartels' tentacles are long.
However, an unexpected encounter with a university professor in the big city gives him a precious and deeply desired light at the end of the tunnel. Award winner from the Sundance Film Festival and an exciting new breath of fresh air in a genre where the prospects of survival and creating an alternative to violence and early death are often discouragingly small.
