Everest Dark
We follow former sherpa Mingma Tsiri as he takes one last journey up Mount Everest to pay tribute to the mountain, nature, and human life.
Everest is not what it once was. There are long queues to the summit, and tens of thousands of people stay in the area around the mountain every year. For the local Nepali Buddhist population, the mountain is an important sanctuary, and respect for both nature and human life is a fundamental part of daily life. This is the background for legendary sherpa Mingma Tsiri’s decision to make one final journey to the world’s highest mountain to retrieve the bodies of those who have perished and to honour the mountain. We accompany him on a scenic and admirable, yet dangerous, final expedition into the capricious mountain range.
