Omen
A nightmarish journey into a world characterised by conflict, about a boy who is accused of being a sorcerer. A film filled with colours and creativity.
Due to an unusual birthmark, Koffi is perceived as a sorcerer by his mother and sent into exile to Belgium at a young age. Many years later, he is married and expecting a child, and he wishes to return to the village to seek a blessing from his parents. This poses significant challenges. When unexpected events confirm his mother's belief that her son is cursed, a nightmarish journey ensues into a world characterized by the conflict between traditional folklore and modernity. This is a film brimming with creativity and featuring a rarely rich visual language, marking director Baloji as a talent worth keeping an eye on. The film had its world premiere in the prestigious Un Certain Regard program at the Cannes Film Festival this year, where it received the New Voice Prize.
